What have we been up to? Women of Virtue Transitional Foundation would like to share…

In February 2017, we requested your help and received donations of cards, candy, and letters to send to troops overseas through the Hugs & Hearts Project. We were able to send approximately 200 letters and cards and several pounds of candy.

We extended a special thank you and shout-out to Auburn Elementary and the special little artists that wrote and created these Beautiful cards and letters for our troops!!! #hugs#hearts #love

On April 1, 2017, we had the “opportunity” to donate hygiene items, volunteer and help Lift Up Atlanta separate clothing from the Community Closet so that underprivileged and homeless individuals in the community could select items that they needed. We so love making a difference in the community and partnering with fellow nonprofit organizations to do so!!

On April 2, 2017, Women of Virtue Transitional Foundation partnered with Masterpiece Mixers- Snellville to recognize National Crime Victims Right week by Painting with a Passion for a Purpose. The proceeds from the event will be sown back into our community by investing in our programs and services that help domestic abuse victims, survivors, and their children out of unhealthy circumstances and towards healthy lifestyles.

On April 7, 2017, we showed our support for Marsy’s Law-Georgia amazing efforts by sporting their these awesome purple tees. Our overall plan and purpose were to support Domestic Violence Awareness and this was accomplished through participating in Fulton County’s Victims’ Rights Week Empty Shoe Ceremony and One Mile Walk. The event was hosted by Fulton County Solicitor General’s Office, Fulton County District Attorneys Office, and Fulton County Family Violence Task Force.  I am proud to share that my baby McKinzie (mini-philanthropist) helped in these efforts as one of the smallest leaders of the one-mile walk.  She is rarely too far behind or ahead of mommy as it is important that our youth understand the importance of giving back and helping those that are not always able to help themselves. We stand against domestic violence and I stand for #womensrights #advocating#fightingforwomenrights#nevertooyoungtolearn

As the Executive Director and Founder, I was featured as a guest on the Spirit-lifting Radio Show “The Journey: A Meeting Of the Minds” hosted by Kimberly Collins on March 28, 2017. These two opportunities afforded Women of Virtue Transitional Foundation a platform to discuss domestic violence, statistics, and how it affects survivors, children, and the mentality amid many other topics.

We have had a busy first quarter and are embarking on much more!  Follow us on Facebook, WordPress, Twitter, Instagram, and visit our website.  Please be sure to join our mailing list if you have not done so already!

Kind Regards,

Sonya McKinzie, Executive Director, and Founder

LONGER and STRONGER Patience

IMG_20170414_192635_193I remember when I stepped out on faith last year, February 25, 2016. I was (am) working a full time job to take care of my child, my household, and responsibilities and launched a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit (my passion) as a result of God’s calling on my life. I will be first to share that this past year has been one of the most trying years I have endured in nearly two decades. During this time, I have been reminded that God does not bring you to and through ANYTHING He knows you cannot handle. God has given me LONGER and STRONGER Patience
which in turn has strengthen my Faith in order for me to THRIVE. It is true that Faith and Patience are essential to stay grounded. If you have read this far, then you can relate to these words. And if you’re going through a test of your faith, please remember God will not bring you to IT to leave you. #jump #ThriveHers #faith #patience #love #selfrespect #empowerment #womenofvirtue #intentional #faith is #essential to your #success #loveyourself so you can #loveand #empower others
